Previous owner's gift inscription on the ffep. Edges lightly soiled. Spine very slightly pulling as is common with this book. Binding a bit loose due to its bulk. Dust jacket is price-clipped but bright with no fading, chips or tears. Overall a better than very good copy of this Pulitzer winning novel. $450

In addition this copy was used for reference in the making of the movie HUD. The front paste-down and ffep contain pencil written notes such as the day it was received ' 4 - 25 - 61' (one day after it's publication date), the amount paid to the author '$3500' and a dialogue change concerning a word which begins with 'F'. Shooting in Fall and the names Paul Newman, Melvin Douglas and Director Martin Ritt also appear. This copy was left by location scouts in a motel room in Abilene, Texas. After perusal by McMurtry himself various conclusions have been drawn as to who associated with the film owned this copy. None-the-less it is a piece of film/ McMurtry history which rarely sees the light of day. Book is near fine with slight pushing to spine ends. Dustjacket has some rubbing along extremities and a few small tears along same. A few spots of rubbing to front and back of dustjacket as is common with this title. A remarkable and significant copy. $8500 SOLD
